Learning Outcomes and Application | This unit of competency describes the outcomes required to prepare and conduct pointing operations of hardwood and softwood material using cutter or saw type machinery. The unit applies to operators who produce pointed timber products in a forest products factory setting.No licensing, legislative, regulatory, or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication. | ||
Duration and Setting | X weeks, nominally xx hours, delivered in a classroom/online/blended learning setting. The following resources must be made available: tools and equipment used to produce pointed timber products: manually loaded equipment rotating cutters and saws maintenance tools and equipment for rotating cutters and saws consumable components; cutters and saw blades personal protective equipment suitable for producing pointed timber products timber used to produce pointed timber products manufacturers’: instructions for equipment use recommendations for cleaning, repairing and maintaining work order with specific details of: material to be pointed special client requirements production timelines template documents for recording production outcomes and equipment faults organisational procedures for producing pointed timber products relevant personnel for the purposes of communicating information Competency is to be assessed in the workplace or a simulated environment that accurately reflects performance in a real workplace setting. Assessor requirements Assessors must: hold the appropriate assessor competency standards as outlined in regulations; and be able to demonstrate vocational competencies at least to the level being assessed; and be able to demonstrate how they are continuing to develop their VET knowledge and skills as well as maintaining their industry currency and assessor competence. |
